Fans have been keeping an eye to see emilia clarke taking over the role of Mera from Amber Heard in Aquaman 2.
Today we all know the warner bros has change her to another actress.
Its no new thing that aquaman and the last kingdom has been shrouded in a bit of controversy this year due to large part of amber heard/johnny depp trial.
As the trial waged on last year making captions for the messy legal battle between the two stars, rumors began swirling regarding the role the trial might have had on Heard’s future with the Aquaman franchise.
At one point, there were even rumors suggesting Warner Bros. had cut Heard’s role and was looking to bring in a new actress to play the role of Mera for the follow-up to 2018’s box office success. Among the actresses who emerged as a favorite to replace Heard when these conversations heated up was Jason Momoa’s former Game of Thrones co-star Emilia Clarke, who fans continue to express attention in seeing take over the role of Mera.
While we know Amber Heard will return as Mera in the movie, that hasn’t stopped fans from being eager to see Clark in the role.
What Is Mera’s Role In Aquaman 2?
Aquaman 2 director James Wan’s latest comments indicate that Amber Heard’s Mera will have a limited role in the sequel.
This doesn’t necessarily mean a bad thing for the actress and her character since he appears to imply that it’s what the story requires.
Still, the fact that Mera is even included in the movie is pretty significant, considering that fans will not be asking where the character has been all this time.
Based on the first Aquaman 2 teaser, Mera can be seen running towards a house on fire, which appears to be Thomas Curry’s home.
Given Black Manta’s all-out revenge against Arthur Curry, it’s possible that the titular hero advises Mera to keep his parents safe, leading to them being isolated for a good chunk of the film.
This could explain why Mera is absent for a good amount of the movie, leading to Arthur and Orm’s dynamic being pushed to the forefront.
Why Is Amber Heard Still Playing Mera In Aquaman 2?
Amber Heard is still playing Mera in Aquaman 2 because Warner Bros. decided not to cut and replace her.
With Warner Bros. likely having the final say about Amber Heard’s involvement, it’s expected that it will have considered up the pros and cons of keeping Heard involved versus recasting and reshoots.
Though she is still in the movie, Amber Heard has not been promoting Aquaman 2, in a similar way to how Ezra Miller wasn’t tasked with promoting The Flash 2. While they remained in the movie, they had limited involvement with marketing.
